Loo Katz With A HOUND Background – How It All Started

1969 – 2018 What a ride it’s been!!

Back when I was at John F. Kennedy High School in Silver Spring, Maryland, there was an opening for someone to do the morning announcements. I bolted down to the Office and the two guys who had been doing them officially handed the job off to me. The radio bug was born.

It wasn’t long after that, when I created my own little radio station in my bedroom, WLMK 840AM. After my parents got sick of the noise and commotion, the high school principal allowed me to move the station to Kennedy. WJFK was born.

Fast forward to April 23rd, 2018 – the day HOUND RADIO was born. The name HOUND RADIO comes from two things – my love for basset hounds, and of course, radio. The dog thing started in 1964, when our family got a beagle named Bagel. Then, when I was single in 1982, I got my first basset, Sophie. And in 2005, the Katz Clan adopted Dixie. I dedicate this website in her memory.

And NOW you know.
